Come run through the historic neighborhoods of one of the richest little cities in the United States. Known for its prolific oil and gas production, Midland, TX is also home to two U.S. Presidents, and Midland’s Energy City Half Marathon takes runners past homes, fields, and beauty along a rural race route.
The half marathon begins at Fasken Oil and Ranch, northwest of downtown Midland, and starts the course by taking runners off-road for the first mile before running through a residential neighborhood and heading south. After making a loop through another residential neighborhood just north of downtown Midland, runners then retrace their path along Oriole Drive and continue along another loop weaving through another residential neighborhood.
After completing the second loop, it’s less than a mile to the finish line, back to where runners started. Raffles, snacks, and prizes await runners at the finish line.
Race organizers note that walkers and strollers are welcome on the course, but request that they start toward the back of the pack for everyone’s safety.
