Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 12, 2024, and get ready for the trail running event of the year – the Purgatory Creek Trail Run in the heart of picturesque San Marcos! A trail party like no other, this race promises an immersive experience through the stunning Purgatory Creek Natural Area, showcasing single track trails, rolling hills, rocks, fast sections, and the unmatched Tejas Trails spirit.
Presented in collaboration with the Great Springs Project, this race supports their commendable efforts in preserving the Edwards Aquifer beneath the trails, ensuring sustainable clean water for our growing cities. Embrace the opportunity to learn more about this vital project on race day.
While every participant will receive cool swag, ensure you register by September 17 to secure your exclusive race shirt. The 13.1-mile loop course is meticulously marked, offering a blend of beautiful single track trails, wide speedy sections, and challenging rocky limestone stretches. Celebrate your accomplishment as you cross the finish line, accompanied by music and the vibrant Start/Finish line party.
The Purgatory Creek Natural Area owes its accessibility to the dedicated work of the San Marcos Greenbelt Alliance (SMGA), advocating for interconnected parks and natural areas. This race is a chance for us to contribute, leaving the trails better than we found them.
