Overview
The half marathon course is primarily trail-based, taking runners on a journey through Mackinac Island. Participants start and finish at Mission Point Resort, near Lake Huron. The route takes runners through interior forested trails, historic sites, and along shoreline paths. Elevation changes are a significant feature of this course.
Registrants will receive a Great Turtle commemorative garment and a finisher medal. The other swag available is announced closer to the race. People who register for the entire Mackinac Island Trio Series get a unique medal. There are awards for all three events that go to the overall winners, the masters male and female winners, and the first three finishers in each age division.
Course Description
The last open weekend of the tourist season is the time and the trails and hills of 1,800-acre Mackinac Island State Park are the setting for the Great Turtle Trail Half Marathon & 5.7-Mile Run/Walk, which sees more than 2,000 runners and walkers cross the finish line in all races combined each year.
