The Green River Marathon is held annually on the first Saturday of June in Seattle, Washington. This marathon, relay, and fun run is organized entirely by volunteers and is offered free of charge to all participants.
Participants can contribute $20.00 to Northwest Harvest in exchange for commemorative medal. These donations help cover event costs and support Northwest Harvest’s mission of fighting hunger in our communities.
The marathon course, starting at the intersection of the Green River trail and the Interurban trail in South Kent, is a mostly flat route with two short hills towards the end. There are sweeping views of Seattle and Puget Sound.
The option to participate in a relay with others is available, with no formal rules or divisions. Participants are encouraged to run as far as they like, with some covering as little as 2.5 miles and others taking on longer stretches.
There are aid stations with water, Gatorade, and GU (energy gel). Restroom facilities are available at many parks along the way.
After the race, runners are encouraged to visit Spud’s Fish and Chips for lunch. Limited return transportation is available for those who request it in advance, with carpooling encouraged to facilitate transportation back to the start.
