Runners in the half marathon will not get to run through the Snoqualmie Tunnel located on the marathon course, but will still enjoy the views of the breathtaking John Wayne Trail. The course is almost entirely downhill, with only a slight incline of 15 feet around mile 8. The course is an old railroad route made of even dirt and gravel road.
Half marathoners will be bused from the finish area at Tollgate park and be dropped off at the bottom of a trail. They will then need to walk 1 mile up a scenic dirt road to the start. Due to the growing popularity of the half and full marathon, the races were extended to take place twice, once on Saturday and then the next day on Sunday.
If you are unable to sign up for the race, race directors suggest checking out the Iron Horse Half Marathon which takes place in August. It is similar to the Jack & Jill’s Half Marathon course, and offers the same beautiful scenic views along the John Wayne Trail.
Along the marathon course, there will be 11 aid stations, located approximately every 2 miles. The race has a limit of 6.5 hours, which equates to a 15 minute per mile pace. Every participant will receive a custom water-wicking race shirt, a race bag with swag and a race medal upon completion of the race.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
