Overview

Set in nearly the geographic center of Washington State, the town of Wenatchee straddles the great Columbia River that runs north-south through the entire middle of the state, and plays host each April to the Wenatchee Marathon & Half Marathon, which also includes a 10K race.

The course for all three events is scenic and free of traffic, and is open to both runners and walkers (though wheelchairs and jogging strollers are not permitted). Made entirely of paved surfaces, the course is mostly flat with a few gently rolling hills — its lowest elevation is about 560 feet above sea level, and its highest is about 620 feet.

Course Description

The starting line for each of the four races is near Centennial Park on Wenatchee Avenue, near the intersection with 1st Street. From the start, the course proceeds northward along Wenatchee Avenue and then eastward on 5th Street, to the Apple Capital Loop Trail.
After reaching this point, the remainder of all four races take runners exclusively along the Apple Capital Loop Trail, which will take them through Wenatchee Confluence State Park and across the bridge over the Columbia River into East Wenatchee.
Once they’re over the river, runners follow the trail south along the riverbank all the way to the turnaround point, just south of 23rd Street. After that, the race retraces your steps all the way back across the river and onto the trail, back to Riverfront Park.
There’s a short run across the footbridge from the park onto the roads, and then to the finish line back where you started at First and Wenatchee.
