The starting line for the race — which features both a half marathon for runners and a 15K event for walkers — lies at the Diamond Head end of Waikiki Beach, just southeast of downtown Honolulu.
From there, runners make their way around some of this city’s most popular attractions, including Kapiolani Park, Diamond Head Crater Park and the Honolulu Zoo.
After starting out flat for the first mile or so, the half marathon race hits its first significant hills around the mile 2 marker, which runners encounter as they make their way around the end of Diamond Head Crater and Diamond Head Beach.
The race then heads back into city’s urban areas (and back downhill) for the next few miles, until turning back toward Diamond Head for the finish back at Kapiolani Park.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
