Veterans are honored in many ways on the days surrounding Veterans Day, and the small town of Florence, Kentucky is no exception. The Honor Run Half Marathon hosted on the weekend nearest Veterans Day each year serves not to honor those who have served, but to help veterans of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam visit their monuments in Washington, D.C.

The half marathon starts at the Florence Mall at 7:00 AM, with the first mile consisting of a run around the mall before running along the west side of the Florence Square. From there, runners head north along Houston Road, passing the City of Florence Golf Course and many businesses before turning left onto Turfway Access and passing Turfway Park. Be sure to look up while running along Turfway Road — you might spot a plane landing or taking off from the nearby Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
After turning around and running Turfway Road again, runners make a right turn onto Aero Parkway for the second half of the half marathon and continue down this road for the next two miles. A second turnaround sends runners back down Aero Parkway and right onto Ted Bushelman Boulevard, passing the golf course again and running south toward the finish line back at Florence Mall.
