The first road race of the year hosted by the Greater Bellingham Running Club, this event’s running will mark the 44th anniversary of the Annual Lake Samish Runs Half Marathon & 6.5-Mile Run, a loop course road race that takes runners around the entire circumference of Washington State’s Lake Samish, near Bellingham.
Run on paved country roads that see little traffic (and remain open to automobiles during the event), the race is mostly flat with a few rolling hills thrown in.
The race is limited to 300 entrants, so runners thinking of signing up are encouraged to do so early — in recent years, all spots have filled up before race day, so don’t wait until the day of the race.
