The course tours the small village of Geneseo, a National Historic Landmark, and extends out into the countryside roads surrounded by the Nations Road Grasslands, identified as an Important Bird Area by the National Audubon Society.
Runners pass the majestic Oak Tree savannahs of the Genesee Valley, featuring trees over 300 years old. Geneseo is located 30 minutes south of Rochester, N.Y., and is located on the western edge of the Finger Lakes wine region.
The Oak Tree features live musical groups along the course to add a unique flavor to this small town race, certainly one you are not soon to forget. Over 2,800 acres of land visible from the race course are permanently protected open space by GVC.
Runners finish at the Geneseo Central School’s track and field facility, the location of the 5K finish, Kids Fun Runs, post race food, and awards ceremonies.
