Overview

Come and enjoy the crisp autumn air and run the Pioneer Prairie Dog Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k in beautiful Westminster, Colorado.

Road Runners, Trail Runners. Westminster is just 10 miles from downtown Denver and is known largely for its rich history, and its beautiful city-suburban balance. Throughout the course, runners will enjoy this balance, with views of the city as well as the mountainous horizons.

Taking place at the end of September, participants can expect moderate and comfortable temperatures, making for a great opportunity to run a great race, whether for fun or in competition with your previous PR.

Course Description

Starting at Westminster Promenade Terrace, the half-marathon course comprising both paved and unpaved gravel paths takes runners alongside Big Dry Trail. Crossing Sheridan Boulevard followed by W 112 Avenue, W 120 Avenue, and W 128 Avenue, runners then turn around to retrace their footsteps. Heading back, however, runners will take a small detour around Metzger Farm before hopping back on the trails they came from. The race ultimately ends back where it started at Westminster Promenade Terrace. Every registrant receives a race-day t-shirt, a commemorative pint glass, free official race-day photos, and a finisher’s medal. During the event, runners can expect several aid stations throughout. While there are cups at every aid station, there are no cups at the finish line, so be sure to come prepared with your own water bottle for post-race refuelling. The half marathon course has a 3-hour 30-minute cut-off time.
