149-racereach_registerSet for its third annual running this year, the Race 13.1 Fayetteville Half Marathon takes runners through the home of Fort Bragg, N.C., which boasts more than 55,000 military personnel — more service members than any other U.S. Army installation in the country.

Runners start the out-and-back course for the race just off the All American Freeway at Cross Creek Mall, the premier shopping destination in Fayetteville. There is ample free parking right beside the start and finish line as well as a big selection of restaurants and shops to visit after the race.

This is one of very few races where runners get the chance to run on the highway – while it is fully closed. In keeping with the military theme, nearly 10 miles of the race are run on the All American Expressway, which provides a route with less than 100 feet of elevation change — so runners looking to PR should look no further.

After runners leave Cross Creek Mall, they’ll head onto Morganton Road and quickly proceed down the exit ramp onto the All American Expressway, in the direction of Fort Bragg.

There’s a turn and a short out-and-back stretch on Sante Fe Road, and then runners will return to the expressway for the remainder of the course, until they turn back onto Morganton Road to the finish back at Cross Creek Mall.

Runners can expect to have a text message from Race 13.1 with a link to the live results waiting for them when they cross the finish line, along with a first class post-race party.

More than 1,500 runners are expected in the half marathon that will start at 7:00am while the 5k and 10k will begin at 7:15am.
