The Run the 509 event, hosted by 509 Wellness, transforms Deer Park into a full-day running festival. Participants can choose from a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, or the quirky Toddler Trot, all set against the community backdrop of northern Washington.
🏃 Race Course & Experience
Races all start at the WAFd Bank parking lot (16 N Main St). The Half Marathon kicks off at 8:00 AM PDT, followed by the 10K at 8:30 AM and the 5K at 9:00 AM. The toddler trot begins at 11:00 AM.
Expect a flat, fast, out‑and‑back course weaving through neighborhoods, a local golf course, rural roads, and sidewalks—with minimal elevation gain. Aid stations are limited: the half and 10K each have one station supplying water, Hammer gel, and minimal first aid; the 5K includes one water stop.
🎯 Why It’s Special
This open‑road community race has quickly grown into one of Deer Park’s largest running events. With early registration perks like T‑shirts guaranteed by May 14, top‑3 age‑group awards (no medals), and local food truck and business participation, the atmosphere is festive and family-friendly.
Run the 509 combines small-town charm, flat community-paced racing, and local engagement into a fun multi-distance event. With a fast course, limited logistics, and local business involvement, it’s designed for runners of all levels looking to feel at home while hitting the pavement near Spokane.
