Run the Rockies Trail Half Marathon & 10K – Race Preview
Returning on Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Run the Rockies Trail Half Marathon & 10K kicks off at the Frisco Nordic Center and winds through the Frisco Peninsula Recreation Area. Celebrating its sixth year, the event draws approximately 370 half marathoners, making it a meaningful yet intimate trail experience.

The 13.2‑mile half features a punchy mix of single-track trails, FS dirt roads, and wide gravel paths, climbing first to 9,350 ft before rolling terrain leads runners back past scenic pockets of Forest Service land and stunning Dillon Reservoir views

The 10K mixes similar terrain with compact climbs on the peninsula loop.

You’ll find four aid stations serving water, electrolytes, and light fuel at strategic spots. Family-friendly volunteers at each station and at the expo at Frisco Beach help cheer on participants during multiple passes.

“This is a great course for a first‑time half‑marathoner or runners looking for a fun course that offers single track and dirt road trails.”

Picnic-style post-race festivities include local beers, live music, and awards for top finishers and age groups. It’s a high-mountain trail experience that’s supportive, scenic, and memorable.
