Discover “one of the most beautiful and scenic courses you’ll ever run” at the San Dieguito Half Marathon, which will move from its old home in rural Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., to downtown San Diego for its 49th annual running this year, making it one of the nation’s oldest half marathon races.

With an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Qualcomm Stadium, the home of the NFL’s San Diego Chargers, runners will make their way first around the inside of the stadium before heading out for a long out-and-back stretch along Friars Road, and then make their way back into the stadium for the race finish.
Also, the high quality beer garden at the end of the race helps cap off the perfect half marathon experience.
The race sponsored by the San Diego Hash House Harriers as a benefit for the San Diego County Parks Society is great preparation for upcoming spring marathons, especially more hilly races like Big Sur and Boston and is a great winter getaway race in the near perfect San Diego climate.
For those not ready for the challenge of a half marathon but still looking for a scenic run there is an out and back 5K as well which follows the first segment of the half marathon course.

Race Weather & Climate
Set along the Southern California coastline, San Diego tends to see drier and warmer weather in April than in the preceding months, with temperatures during the month that average between 56ºF and 68ºF.
On the day of the race (April 16), the average low is 56°F and the average high is 68°F, while rainfall amounts average just under an inch.
