The 2024 Trail Animals Running Club (TARC) Fall Classic is set to take place at Great Brook Farm State Park, Carlisle, Massachusetts, on Saturday, September 7. Registrants can choose from a 10K, half marathon, 20 mile, 50K, and 50 mile, and there’s also a free youth fun run. There are limited entries, so early registration is advised.
The park offers courses that are great for novice and experienced trail runners, with rolling landscapes, roots, and rocks. The 50M and 50K races begin at 6 am (before sunrise), so runners need headlamps or lighting. The 20M, half marathon, and 10K races start at 8 a.m. The longer distances are looped, with 50M/50K participants completing multiple 10-mile loops, including an additional loop around the open field for the 50K. The 20M runners will run the 10-mile loop twice. The half marathon and 10K participants will follow a 10K loop, with half marathoners doing an additional loop around the open field at the start. There are regularly placed aid stations on the courses that have vegan-friendly options. The race is held on traditional Musketaquid Indian lands and offers many community and inclusivity initiatives, including partnerships with the USATF Mountain/Ultra/Trail Running Youth Initiative for discounted youth entries, Trail Sisters for equal opportunities and amenities for women participants, and Pride on Foot for inclusivity of transgender and non-binary participants.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
