Overview

Organized by Trimara Inc.—the same team behind Brooklyn favorites like The Prospect Park Half and The Bay Ridge Half—The Thankful 13.1 is Brooklyn’s own autumn ritual through one of the city’s most hallowed green spaces.

Race Preview
This looped course navigates Center Drive with multiple circuits through tree-canopied lanes, rolling hills, and historic stretches steeped in Revolutionary War heritage. Runners can expect a mix of natural and engineered challenges—climbs, descents, and flat stretches—on a course both beautiful and performance-ready. With a course designed for both speed and scenic immersion, it’s positioned to become a cornerstone late-season race for Brooklyn runners.

What Sets It Apart

  • Historic greenway loops: multiple laps through iconic Prospect Park create a spectator-friendly and tactical experience
  • Well-organized local event: bib pickup, bag check, and pre-race setup all on race day for streamlined logistics
  • Fall performance goal: ideal timing and terrain for those hunting autumn PRs or refining pacing for winter marathons
  • Community pedigree: hosted by Trimara, creators of boutique Brooklyn halfs with local flair

✨ Why You’ll Love It

The Thankful 13.1 delivers a perfect blend of urban serenity, autumn scenery, and performance pacing in one of NYC’s most beloved parks. With looped circuits, familiar footing, and professional race logistics, it’s a smart way to end the season on a high note—whether you’re chasing a PR, qualifying for Boston, or simply appreciating fall in the city.

Course Description

This challenging yet scenic course will be 1 loop of the northern half of the course and 3 full loops of Prospect Park. You will start running west along Center Drive onto West Drive and complete 1 loop of the northern section of the course followed by 3 counter clockwise loops of the outer ring of Prospect Park. You will finish back on Center Drive where you can collect your MEDALS and bask in your accomplishments (Don’t worry, we will have people out there making sure you don’t get lost). Water stations will be found approximately every 1.5 miles making sure you maintain adequate hydration.
