Welcome to the Tidewater Striders Marathon and Half Marathon, home to one of the flattest and fastest marathons in the country and the fastest in Virginia! Our marathon has been recognized as the 47th fastest marathon nationwide and the fastest in Virginia by Find My Marathon. In 2021, both the Tidewater Strider BQ Invitational and the Strider Marathon ranked #2 and #35, respectively, in the country for their Boston Qualifying percentage.
The course unfolds on the closed 2-lane roadway at the Dismal Swamp Trail Park in Chesapeake. The full marathon course is USATF certified, making it a Boston Qualifying race. Packet pickup is available early at Point 2 Running Company in Chesapeake on Friday, April 19th, from 3-6pm, and on race day from 6:15 – 7:30 am.
Fluids and food are plentiful, with 4 aid stations for the half marathon and 9 water stations for the full marathon. Finishers receive a medal and premium long-sleeve shirt, and onsite hospitality and refreshments await participants at the post-race party.
The full marathon begins at 7 am, followed by the half marathon at 7:30 am. The finish line closes at 1:30 pm, accommodating walkers who may arrange an early start or self-time after 1:30 pm. Awards are presented to the top 3 overall males and females, as well as the top 3 overall Masters Male & Female, along with the top 3 males and females in 10-year age groups.
Registration remains open until April 21, 2024, with discounts available for legacy runners/Striders Plus members until the same date. Club membership discounts of $5.00 are available until April 23, automatically applied during registration. Please note that paper entry forms are not available.
