More than 200 runners cross the finish line each year at Gainesville’s Tom Walker Memorial Half Marathon, organized by the Florida Track Club on an out-and-back run along the Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail, whose wide paved pathways stretch some 16 miles from Boulware Springs Park into the nearby Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park.

Overview
Course Description
Runners start the race at the trailhead near the park entrance, just off Southeast 15th Street. From there, the course keeps runners on the trail for the entire race, heading south and then east along the trail through the Paynes Prairie Preserve and along the state conservation lands just outside the park.
The race is one of the final events of the year hosted by the club and is part of its Florida Track Club Grand Prix, which offers points throughout the year for its races
