Get ready for a fun and frosty adventure, as the annual Twin Cities Polar Dash Half Marathon and 10K is set for New Year’s day in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Polar Dash also has the addition of a 1800m race, and is included in what they call the Mount Everest challenge which has runners compete in the Half Marathon, 5k and 1800m all in the same morning. If a Half Marathon isn’t your thing, sign up for the Yeti Challenge where runners will compete in a 10K instead of the half, followed by a 5K and 1800m race.

The USATF-certified half marathon race will follow an out and back course that starts and finishes at the Harriet Island Pavilion in Saint Paul. The course will take runners down river on Harriet Island Road, where they will cross under the Wabasha bridge before taking a right onto Levee Road. Runners will then take a right onto Fillmore crossing and continue onto Water Street. Water street will take runners to Plato before it turns left onto Water/Lilydale. They will follow Water/Lilydale until the turnaround where they will retrace their steps all the way back to the start. Both the half marathon and the 10K runners will turn around at the same place with the half marathoners finishing near the Harriet Island Pavilion on Dr. Justus Ohage Street.

The finish line has a beautiful view of downtown Saint Paul and the Mississippi River. At the finish line runners can enjoy a food bag, as well as a nice cup of hot chocolate. Runners should make sure to head to Cooper Irish Pub or any of the Cara Irish Pubs after the race in order to redeem their coupon for a free Finnegans beer. The half marathon will start at 8:00AM followed by the 10K at 9:00AM and finally the 5K at 10:30AM.
