Overview

Join the Wapsi Wiggle in scenic Riceville, IA, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, for its charming blend of a Training Half Marathon and a 5K Wiggle—plus a free fun run for kids. Starting at 6:30 AM CDT from the WGWL Trailhead & Welcome Center, this out-and-back half races through farmland, woods, and restored prairie, making it both a training run and community fundraiser benefitting the Mitchell County Regional Health Center’s Riceville Clinic.

The paved route stays largely flat, but rural rolling terrain adds gentle challenge and natural rhythm. With timed chip officiating, the course is suitable for training goals, PRs, or enjoying the outdoors. Aid stations line the route, and medals are awarded to overall male and female champs in both races—plus age‑group awards for the 5K .

Race perks include free all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage for registered participants, with a pancake breakfast running from 7:30–10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church. Non-runners are welcome to purchase breakfast, making post-race mingling extra sweet.

While crowd-scale remains small to mid-size (typically 100–500 runners), community camaraderie shines—kids, families, and locals line the trail and breakfast setup, enhancing the festive feel .
