Overview

The Mermaid Trail Run is a standout trail event hosted by the Mermaid Series, returning on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Huddart Park in Woodside, CA. Supported by Trail Sisters and UltraRunning, this inclusive event welcomes runners of all levels—with distances ranging from 3 mi, 6 mi, 9 mi, half marathon, and a timed 6‑Hour Challenge (solo or relay), plus a youth 1‑mile dash.

Expect a mix of single-track and fire-road loops winding through redwood groves, oak woodlands, rooty terrain, creek crossings, and moderate hills. Steep climbs challenge runners, but provide exhilarating downhill runs on the return . Aid stations offer water, Ultima electrolyte drinks, snack bars, and pancake breakfasts—and this is a cupless race, so runners should bring their own bottles or hydration packs.

The event supports modest field sizes (100–500 participants) and fosters a supportive, women-centric vibe without frills—no announcers or loud music—just focused trail experiences. Men are welcome, though only women are eligible for age-group awards.

Runner feedback is glowing:

“The largest women’s trail run in California!! Run in the magical forest at Huddart Park… long sleeve shirts, finisher medals and necklaces, plus a pancake breakfast.”
“Mermaid Series races… Can’t wait for more adventures in 2025!”
