Known as the Hub City to locals, the southern Louisiana town of Lafayette plays host to the Zydeco Marathon & Half Marathon, taking place in March each year.
Both the marathon and half marathon begin in downtown Lafayette on Jefferson Street near the Lafayette Science Museum. From there, half marathoners head left onto West Congress Street for a mile or so before turning near the end of mile 2 at the Cajundome, a multi-purpose arena that houses the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns basketball team. The next several miles take runners through a mix of residential neighborhoods and business properties before continuing south on Jefferson Street and toward the University of Louisiana-Lafayette campus.
