1) Disney Princess Half Marathon (Lake Buena Vista, Fla.)
Though this a female-centric race with the first 2 corrals reserved for female runners only, plenty of dudes get caught up in the princess action. Popular costumes include any of the Disney princesses, but don’t be surprised to see other Disney mainstays like Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck. This is the perfect place to wear everything pink and glittery that you can find.
2) Florida Halloween Halfathon (St. Petersburg, Fla.)
Half marathons held near the end of October tend to be costume heavy by association, so why not race one that encourages dressing up. Forget the age group award and go straight for tops in 1 of 10 different categories such as Best Celebrity and Best Couple.
3) Superhero Half Marathon (Morristown, N.J.)
DC Comics or Marvel, it doesn’t matter. Just choose your favorite superhero and run faster than a speeding bullet. Special prizes are awarded for best costumes so go ahead and rock out that cape, shield, or sword. Plus, you’ll feel like a superhero as race proceeds benefit the Morristown Meals on Wheels.
4) Costume Party Run (San Diego, Calif.)
All runners are encouraged to dress up to avoid being stared and pointed at. Don your best alter-ego and get ready to party for 13.1 miles. The out-and-back course gives runners an ample opportunity to check out the competition each way and plenty of music keeps things from getting too serious.
5) Moustache Half Marathon (Minneapolis, Minn.)
November has come to be known as Movember in recent years as men forgo shaving for a month to create awareness for prostate cancer. The Moustache Half Marathon encourages every participant to bring their best facial fur at the end of November for one final race before the shave.
Runners are encouraged to utilize social media to post their best moustachioed photos and more importantly, to help raise money for the Minneapolis Prostate Cancer Coalition.
Add this half marathon to the costume list of half marathon races 🙂
