Runners get to tour two of Minnesota’s more than 11,000 lakes at the early spring running of the Campwannarun Half Marathon, 11K, 5K & Fun Run, which starts near White Bear Lake and takes runners along the shorelines of both Bald Eagle Lake and the nearby Otter Lake before bringing runners back to the finish line.
Organized by the owners of Tri Fitness athletic store and training center, which is based in White Bear Lake and organizes a series of half marathons, 10Ks and triathlon events throughout the year, the race follows an out-and-back course that starts and finishes along the eastern edge of Bald Eagle Lake, and which they add serves as an excellent training run for runners planning on taking part in the Grandma’s Marathon in June.
The race follows what is largely a fast and flat course, ranging from a low of about 910 feet above sea level to a peak elevation of about 950 feet over the course of the 13.1-mile route.
From the starting line along Hugo Road, which runs parallel to Highway 61, runners follow Bald Eagle Boulevard as it winds along the lake’s southern end, to the turn onto County Road H2.
Runners make their next turn onto Otter Lake Road, which takes them northward past the shore of the lake by the same name and which they’ll stay on for roughly the next 3 1/2 miles.
Once runners reach the half-way point of the half marathon, they turn off Otter Lake Road and onto East Cedar Street, which they follow as it curves around southward and becomes Elmcrest Avenue, which they follow south as it heads along the western shore of Bald Eagle Lake.
Elmcrest eventually becomes Bald Eagle Boulevard as runners keep heading south, and then runners re-join the section of the course they ran earlier and begin the final two miles of the race, which bring them back along the southern end of the lake in the opposite direction, back up to the starting line area for the race finish.
Organizers say there is no set closing time for the race — they’ll wait until the final runner crosses the finish line before closing down the course.

Hi! Does the half marathon give out finisher medals?
I am having problems signing up on the website. Is there an alternative address I can reach out to someone at? I emailed the address listed and no one has gotten back to me yet
Hi Noelle!
Try this contact info — it’s for Midwest Multisport Races, which is putting on this event:
Email: judi@mmraces.com
Phone: 651-440-9625
On the camp wannarun page there are different start times for the races then are listed on the registration page. I am wondering what the actual start times for the races will be? Thanks
That’s a great question, Jessica. Here’s the Contact page for the race organizers:
https://www.mmraces.com/about-mmr
I’ll reach out to them, but I suggest you do the same. I’ll change our page to “See race website” for now.
Hello I am the distance coach at Valley City State University. I was wanting to get more information about the 1/2 Marathon this weekend and know more about conditions and the event over-all. Please email back a time that will work for us to talk by phone today is possible. my number is 336.267.8528. Thank you.
P.S. l am looking to possibly register 5 runners for the half marathon if the event is conducive to what we are looking for.
If we register now can we still get the race t-shirt?
Thanks!
Is this run (April 9th White Bear) a chipped run for the 1/2 marathon?
