Honoring veterans and first responders, the American Heroes Run returns at Hayworth Park in Bellevue, NE. In just its second year, this community-focused race features a USATF-style Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K—all starting early to beat the spring heat: half marathon at 7:00 AM CDT, with the 10K and 5K following at 7:15 AM.
The out-and-back loop course combines city streets, paved trails through American Heroes Park, and dirt sections along the Keystone Trail—offering a dynamic route with moderate rolling terrain. Aid stations appear approximately every two miles, and a generous four-hour cutoff ensures a relaxed, inclusive experience. Participants receive chip timing, commemorative shirts (guaranteed if registered by May 1), large custom medals, snacks, and age-group awards.
What sets this race apart is its mission-driven spirit. Organized in partnership with Team Red, White & Blue, it raises funds as part of the park’s ongoing development—supporting veterans through wellness initiatives and enhancing Bellevue’s premier recreation space. Overflow parking at nearby American Heroes Park and brisk spring temperatures (avg. high 66°F, low 54°F on race day) create a comfortable, upbeat race environment.
