Overview

The hustle and bustle of Atlanta, as well as the shade and trees that make the city an urban forest, play host to the annual Atlanta Halloween Half Marathon & 5K, part of a growing series of Halloween-themed races that began with a race in Miami Beach just a few years ago. This year’s race marks the 10th annual running for the Atlanta event, which is set to follow a loop course that takes runners through midtown and downtown Atlanta, as well as through several intown neighborhoods. Starting at the Charles Allen Gate entrance to Piedmont Park, the race begins by taking runners through Piedmont Park along the running paths, past the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and the Piedmont Park Dog Park, before heading south into midtown Atlanta along Juniper Street.

Course Description
From there, the course heads south into the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood and across the famous Jackson Street bridge, where runners can take in the quintessential view of the downtown skyline that surrounds Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead as he rides into Atlanta. Runners continue east through the Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic District before heading north and eventually east along the Freedom Park Trail, then north along the Beltline’s Eastside Trail, all the way to the finish line at Piedmont Park. There will be a course time limit of 4 hours. Runners are wholeheartedly encouraged to come dressed up in costume, for which there will be awards — fastest hero, fastest villain, fastest funny costume and fastest scary costume, as well as a category they just call the fastest “huh?” You can only guess what that might be!
