AZ Veterans Day Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, & 1 Mile race event is entering its 11th year in operation, this year with a new home! For those eager to support the veterans this year, a portion of the proceeds go toward Team Red, White, and Blue, a non-profit with the mission to enrich the lives of American veterans through community connection. Peoria is a city within Maricopa county comprising largely residential homes and neighborhoods. With the majority of the race residing on New River Trail, runners can expect to remain on an uninterrupted asphalt-like trail for most of the course. As for the scenery, expect natural park landscapes inclusive of trees, minimal shade, and off-in-the-distance mountainous views.

Starting inside Peoria Sports Complex on 16101 N 83rd Avenue, runners proceed to cross the Agua Fria Freeway before heading right onto New River Trail. This is where runners will remain for the majority of the race, looping back at mile 6.5. It’s then a retrace of their footsteps all the way back to Peoria Sports complex! Like any half marathon, the AZ Veterans Day race isn’t a walk in the park. For those curious, hydration stations will be set up throughout the course at miles 1, 2, 3, 4, 6.5, 8.5, 10, and 12. So, you might be wondering, what’s in it for you?! Well, apart from helping out a great cause and completing an impressive physical feat, you’ll also be awarded a commemorative finisher’s medal and be provided with a custom event dri-fit shirt! After crossing the finish line, runners have the pleasure of enjoying a post-race Runners Brunch and celebrate all that’s good on Veterans Day and every day.
