Located within White Tank Mountain Regional Park, the Mesquite Canyon Trail Runs is a host of runs comprising of the 50 miler, 50k, 30k, and the half marathon (+ the 8k and kids fun run). As the seventh and final run Aravaipa Desert Trail Running series, the Mesquite Canyon Trail Run is arguably the most anticipated of the events. With challenging climbs comes epic views, and that’s exactly what you get when registering for this half marathon! Comprising typical desert trails along a single track course, this event hosts runners for an amazing adventure through the White Tank Mountain Range where they’ll be accompanied by desert sand, cactus, and worldly views of Phoenix.

The race begins at 7:30 am. Expect challenging climbs, steep descents, and desert terrain as you embark on the daring yet ever-rewarding Mesquite Canyon Trail Run course. Taking runners through Mesquite Canyon, Slick Rock Canyon, and Willow Canyon, the half marathon adventure begins at the competitive track, taking runners toward the Waddell Aid at which they’ll turn right persisting toward Mesquite Aid as they journey through Willow. Finally, it’s a left onto Slick Rock before looping back in a lollipop-like fashion, heading back toward Mesquite Aid, Waddell Aid, and back to the start line where they’ll cross finish. While aid stations throughout will be stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, and snacks, it’s strongly encouraged to come prepared to be self-reliant and self-sufficient regarding hydration and safety; Plan for hot sun and dry air… Notably, this is a cupless event, so be sure to bring reusable water bottles or a hydration pack to avoid litter and to maintain the integrity of the course.
