Overview

Experience the vast beauty of southwestern Montana on Saturday, May 24, 2025, as the Beaverhead Marathon and Half Marathon return for their 8th annual spring celebration. Hosted by the Montana Events Foundation, this scenic loop event both begins and ends at the charming Beaverhead Brewing Company, weaving through Dillon’s historic streets before entering rolling agricultural lands framed by the Pioneer, Blacktail, Sweetwater, Highland, and Tobacco Root Mountains.

Runners are treated to stunning Big Sky views and varied terrain: while the Half Marathon stays exclusively on pavement, the full Marathon includes one-third dirt roads and two-thirds paved surface. Both races start from the high altitude of approximately 5,240 ft, with the Marathon launching at 9:00 AM MDT and the Half Marathon starting an hour later at 10:00 AM MDT.

Aid stations, powered by Hammer Nutrition, are plentiful—10 in total—ensuring runners stay fueled throughout the course. Post-race celebrations include a finisher medal, a hat, a burger, chips, drink, and a complimentary beer from Beaverhead Brewing—a hearty reward in a welcoming mountain-town atmosphere.

What sets this event apart is its blend of breathtaking terrain, altitude challenge, and a festive finish-line celebration. With family-friendly policies (strollers allowed, no dogs), meaningful swag, and small-field charm, it appeals to both destination runners and locals seeking springtime adventure

Course Description

We have changed the course to a loop, starting and finishing at Beaverhead Brewing Company. Runners will run through the streets of Dillon and then through rich agriculture land with views of the Pioneer, Blacktail, Sweetwater, Highland and Tobacco Root Mountains.

We do not have a course map, we are working on one for both races.

The course is on both dirt and pavement. Half Marathon is on pavement. Marathon is 1/3 dirt and 2/3 pavement.
