The trails lead runners in and out of some of the area’s most beautiful natural wildlife and the constant sound of trickling water can be heard from the nearby waterfalls and creeks; a popular feature many runners enjoy.
A few miles into the half marathon, around the three mile mark, there is an area of the course that pinches in and becomes very narrow. This area will be marked with the presence of several race workers leading runners in the right direction. Congestion can occur at this point and cause runners to get off pace, so race participants should be prepared to compensate for this narrow point in the course, if necessary.
At the farthest point of the race, runners will go through the flat, open area of the Anton Meadows before heading back to more narrow trail routes. This is often considered to be one of the most beautiful areas of the course as the run is scheduled during the peak wild flower season in the area, and beautiful, natural flowers can be seen here in full bloom.
The highest inclined area can be found around the eight mile mark, but from there, runners will be descending in a gradual downward slope until they reach the 10-mile point.
This is where runners will then face the steepest incline of the course. At the top of this incline, a few small hills can be found, until runners can enjoy a nice gradual decline towards the finish line.
