Overview

Set for its 9th annual running in 2023 as the fall weather is becoming milder here in this suburban community just north of Dallas, the Colony Half Marathon takes runners on an out-and-back route along the residential streets and shoreline trails of this planned city that lies along the Stewart peninsula on Lewisville Lake.

The race is set to begin in Stewart Park on Sparks Road, and unfolds along the first few miles through residential neighborhoods, where runners will be on paved roads for nearly the first five miles. After that, they head onto the Colony Shoreline Trail, which unfolds along the water’s edge of Lewisville Lake.

The crushed gravel trail for walkers, runners and cyclists features only gently rolling hills, as well as plenty of flat stretches.

Course Description

Runners follow the trail along the curve of the lakeshore down to Lakeside Drive, where they’ll turn and head along Steepleridge Drive and Standridge Drive before heading back onto the Shoreline Trail for the return route back along the lakeshore. Here, runners retrace their steps in the reverse direction along the trail, all the way back to Stewart Park where the race finish line will be.
Race packet pickup will be available on the morning of the race, and organizers note that runners will have a course time limit of 4 hours to complete the race.
