The Deep Hollow Half Marathon & 5k stands as the flagship trail race in the Liberty Mountain Trail Series, offering participants a challenging yet rewarding experience. The Half Marathon course primarily consists of single-track trails interspersed with sections of forest roads, providing a diverse and exhilarating route. Meanwhile, the 5K course follows an out-and-back path along a forest road.
Scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2023, the event will take place at the Hydaway Outdoor Center, offering stunning natural surroundings for runners to enjoy. Participants can choose between the Half Marathon, covering 13.1 miles, or the 5K, spanning 3.1 miles.
The Half Marathon will kick off at 8 A.M., followed by the 5K at 8:15 A.M. Packet pickup, including the race shirt and bib, will be available on Friday, October 20, at the LaHaye Rotunda from Noon-6 P.M. It’s advised to register before October 12th to guarantee receipt of the featured giveaway t-shirt, although a limited number of extra shirts will be available on a first-come basis at packet pickup.
Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and female overall winners, as well as the top 3 male and female participants in each age group. Additionally, top male and female masters (over 40 years of age) will receive awards. All finishers of the half-marathon will be honored with a finisher award. Overall awards will be determined by gun time, while age group awards will be based on chip time. Throughout the event, door prizes will also be distributed, adding to the excitement and camaraderie of the occasion.
