Held in the White Mountains of Northeastern Arizona, The Dueces Wild Endurance Festival is a community event offering races all the way from triathlons for 5-year-olds to ultra endurance courses for experienced athletes, including of course, the half marathon; one of the only half marathons offered in Arizona’s White Mountains!

Awarded as one of the top 10 triathlon courses in the Country, you can imagine how that carries over to the half marathon course! Located within Fool Hollow State Park, this double looping course offers a mixture of challenging but doable terrain comprising both paved roads and dirt paths.

Throughout the course, runners will journey through the Fool Hollow campgrounds where the support from campers is off-the-charts. Along with the amazing natural landscapes surrounding and the support that’s found within it, runners can also expect to capture some incredible sights of Arizonan wildlife.

Starting near Fool Hollow Recreational area, runners set out onto the scenic back trails of Fool Hollow State Park for a 2-loop course out and back onto N 16th Ave. From there, it’s through the paved roads back to the start line where you’ll embark on loop #2. Beware, however, that during lap 1, you’ll remain on the paved road passing the start line for a short out and back. For lap 2, however, you’ll simply cross the finish line rather than running past it for yet another “out and back”. With aid stations stocked at every mile of the race, runners don’t need to fret about the lack of support out on this course! With an accurate chip time provided along with a finisher’s medal, a commemorative event t-shirt, and some post-race food, this event’s got it figured out from start to finish.
