The Fairfield Road Races Half Marathon course was redesigned a few years ago, which starts and finishes near Jennings Beach. To reduce congestion at the starting line, the women and men have separate starting areas, and the two fields merge together by the time runners reach the first mile marker.
After that, all runners share the same route for the rest of the race, and run together all the way in to the finish line at Jennings Beach.
The out-and-back course for the half starts and finishes at Fairfield’s Jennings Beach, and takes runners past stately mansions as well as scenic beaches and bridges through Fairfield, Southport and nearby Greenfield Hill.
The race often sells out, so runners are encouraged to sign up early to make sure they successfully gain entry to the race — the half marathon is limited to the first 2,500 entrants, while the 5K is limited to the first 1,500.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
