The Storybook Half Marathon is one of the most unique races in the Northeast – it’s a can’t-miss event. This unique, friendly and welcoming event invites all racers, runners, joggers, hikers and walkers to take part in this epic 13.1-mile race. Think of it as an introduction to trail racing. Located at 700 Peters Lane in Stratford, CT, Roosevelt Forest is a true gem of New England. The park has a rich natural and cultural history, with 401 acres of forested terrain that is home to a diverse range of wildlife. With its rolling hills and serene lakes, Roosevelt Forest has become a sought-after destination for both experienced and novice runners alike.
The course is a perfectly crafted 13.1-mile circuit over a single and double-track trail. The trail promises just a little bit of elevation coupled with perfect scenery to motivate racers to the finish. The Roosevelt Trail will treat racers to an undulating terrain deep in the forest with a few technical rocky sections. It contains a mix of packed dirt and leaves on the forest floor. The fully marked looped course will ensure you have a seamless running experience, with yellow signs and black arrows guiding you throughout the way. There are various attractions along the course, making the run even more exciting. The course is marked to pass the Forest Commission, Veterans Museum, and Library, all of which receive support from Roosevelt Forest Ultras. The course contains eight 1.64-mile loops, with an aid station at the end of the loop. Each runner will receive a finisher’s medal. Racers need to be at least 18 years old to participate in the event with no refunds or deferments. Only 50 runners may register.
