Overview
Take a running tour of the history of the settling of the American west in all three races at the Garmin Marathon in the Land of Oz — officially titled the Garmin Olathe Marathon, the Garmin Half Marathon and 10K.
Fast and largely flat — there are some rolling hills along the course, but the elevation changes for most are mild — the out-and-back course for the half marathon offers a perfect route for runners of widely varying abilities.
Course Description
The starting time for the half marathon (and the full marathon, which shares the same starting location) is 6:45 AM, and shuttle bus transportation to the starting line will be provided.
The half-marathon course, which unfolds along the first dozen miles of the marathon course and is paved throughout, starts in downtown Olathe along East 151st Street.
From there, the course ventures eastward and then northward, following a somewhat zigzag course through the city on its way toward sights like Waterworks Park, which runners run past, Naval Air Park and the Great Mall of the Great Plains.
Walkers are welcome, provided they can finish the course within six hours, an achievable pace for the half marathon.
