Embark on an extraordinary journey through the heart of Kansas with the Kansas Rails-to-Trails Extravaganza—an ultramarathon event designed to challenge and inspire runners of various levels. With races ranging from 1/2 Marathon to 100 Miles, there’s a distance for everyone, and the adventure begins with staggered starts from 6 AM to 8 AM.

The enchanting Prairie Spirit Trail, a “rails-to-trails” course, serves as the backdrop for this memorable experience. The 100 Mile, 50 Mile, and 50K races kick off at Celebration Hall in Ottawa, featuring a scenic route through charming towns and picturesque landscapes. As participants traverse the crushed limestone and asphalt paths, they’ll encounter manned and unmanned aid stations strategically positioned every 5 miles, ensuring ample support throughout the journey.

For the 100 Mile entrants, the course extends to Iola, while the 50 Mile runners make their way to Garnett, and the 50K participants reach Richmond before returning to the finish in Ottawa. The 100K, Marathon, and Half Marathon races follow a similar pattern, with turnarounds in Welda, Richmond, and Princeton, respectively. With a family-friendly atmosphere, the event welcomes spectators and crew members to cheer on runners. Pacers are allowed for the latter portion of the race, enhancing the experience for both newcomers and seasoned ultramarathoners. The course’s flat and accessible nature makes it ideal for those aiming to achieve personal records or conquer their first ultramarathon. Join us for a celebration of endurance, camaraderie, and the boundless spirit of the Kansas Rails-to-Trails Extravaganza.
