Planned as an out-and-back half marathon race that takes runners from the Casino Beach Boardwalk out onto the roads that run alongside both the waters of the Gulf to the south as well as the Santa Rosa Sound to the north, the race will feature a fast and very flat course, thanks in large part to its location along the beaches.
After starting the race at 7:00 AM Central Time at the parking lot at Casino Beach, runners will finish the race just a short distance away, at the Santa Rosa Island Authority building on Via DeLuna Drive.
Race organizers say the race will be open to both runners and walkers — it’s a walker-friendly course, thanks also to its flat terrain.
The race is limited to the first 2,000 entrants, and runners will have a 4-hour course time limit for the race — which means you’ll need to keep a pace of 18 minutes per mile or faster.
