Runners start the out-and-back course for Omaha’s Heartland Half Marathon at Miller’s Landing Park, a public park nestled along the banks of the Missouri River, just off Riverfront Drive and the I-480 bridge.
From there, they’ll cross the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge into Iowa, where most of the race unfolds along the Iowa Riverfront Trail. For the finish, runners will cross the pedestrian bridge again and cross the finish line back at Miller’s Landing.
The race is run as a benefit for the Lewy Body Dementia Association, which raises funds to help fight the disease that took the life of local running legend Gary Julin, who passed away in 2015 but not before finishing more than 1,000 races, including 165 marathons and winning 100 races over the years.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
