Overview

One of Washington’s smaller running races but also one of its most scenic, the Lewis & Clark Half Marathon & 5K Fun Run runs along a beautiful riverside course that runs alongside Idaho’s Snake River, through the cities of Clarkston and Lewiston, with the turnaround point in nearby Asotin, Washington, just to the south.

Course Description

The starting and finish lines for the race lie at Granite Lake Park on Port Way in nearby Clarkston, which lies just over the state line in Washington to the west of Lewiston.

From there, runners follow an out-and-back course almost entirely along the Snake River, following the bends of the river as it curves its way southward down to the half marathon’s turnaround point in Asotin. Once there, runners begin their trek back along the trail’s fast and flat course, made up mostly of paved surfaces throughout the race.

Organized by Lewiston’s Seaport Striders running club, the race is open to runners who wish to run the half marathon either as individual participants or as members of two- or three-person relay teams, and the day’s events also include a 5K “fun run,” which follows an out-and-back course from the starting point at Granite Lake Park to Beachview Park and back.
