Overview

Founded as a half marathon and 5K course in 2015 by father-son team Joe and Ryan Sutter, the Nebraska Half Marathon & 5K debuted with the goals of providing runners with a unique, breathtaking experience and to give back to the community. Almost 600 runners participated in the 2016 event and raised over $10,000 for the Pediatric Cancer Action Network in the first year alone.

Course Description

The 2024 race starts & finishes at the Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha.
The half marathon route will wind through the historic Old Market District and traverse the streets of downtown Omaha. Passing Charles Schwab Field, home of the College World Series, Miller’s landing and Lewis & Clark Interpretive Trail Exhibit along the Missouri River. Runners will then cross the Missouri River over the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge over into Iowa.
This section of the course takes place across the border in Iowa, continuing south along the Missouri River through Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park and Council Bluffs Riverfront for the first turnaround. Heading north along the river, runners will then turn around again, back across the pedestrian bridge to Riverfront Drive and to the finish under the arch on the 11th Street Promenade on the all-new Gene Leahy Mall complex.
