Set for its 19th annual running this year, Notre Dame’s Holy Half Marathon features an out-and-back double-loop course that takes runners largely on the paved walking paths that wind around and through the Notre Dame campus, including stretches around St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Lakes. More than 1,000 runners cross the finish line each year at the race, which — like the race in past years — donates its proceeds to local charities ranging from the South Bend Center for the Homeless to Michiana Down Syndrome, which serves people and families living with Down Syndrome in the northwest Indiana/southwest Michigan region.
Runners will start and finish the out-and-back loop course for the race in front of the Stepan Center, located at the corner of Stepan Drive and St. Joseph Drive.
From there, the course unfolds along the roads and walking paths in a counter-clockwise loop through campus, taking runners first north toward the residence halls and academic buildings, and later past the Fighting Irish athletic stadiums and facilities, including its football and baseball stadiums.
