Organized by the local running and event organization Urban Coyote Racing, this race takes runners through the challenging hills of Pacifica’s San Pedro Valley Park, which lies just a short drive from San Francisco to the north.
Run through this scenic natural area annually, the Pacifica Summit Run saw just over 100 runners cross the finish line in all four races combined, which include a 10K and 30K race in addition to the half-marathon.
Runners in the 13.1-mile distance race follow the route along the park’s Hazelnut and North Peak trails, which take the field of participants past parts of the park overlooking Weller Ranch, Brooks Creek and Montara Mountain, in addition to the park’s North Peak and Whiting Ridge.
