Take a journey through the unspoiled wilderness of North Georgia at the Rabun Half Marathon, an 11.5ish mile trail race that immerses you in the landscapes of the region. It was originally conceptualized by “The Run Bum” in 2013 as a preview for the Sky to Summit 50 and has been overseen by Susan Burkley since 2016. This scenic course showcases the natural beauty of the area by combining single tracks, footbridges, and cascading waterfalls. The trail climbs up USFS 7 (Hale Ridge Rd) for approximately 2 miles. It then turns onto the Bartram Trail, where runners cover 4.2 miles of pristine single track. Next, it takes runners up to the summit of Rabun Bald, Georgia’s second-highest point. Take in the panoramic views that unfold across three states as a reward for the challenging ascent.
