The River City Half Marathon in Columbus, GA, kicks off alongside a 5K and virtual half as part of Revolution Running’s fall series.
This point-to-point course begins at Lake Oliver Marina and finishes at Oxbow Meadows, nestled near Fort Benning. The layout delivers approximately 350 ft of ascent and 500 ft of descent, translating to an extremely fast downhill net profile—ideal for PR pursuits or first-time half marathoners. The route hugs the scenic Chattahoochee RiverWalk, passes over the North Highlands Dam, and crosses historic downtown Columbus before heading toward a wooded, festival-style finish.
Aid stations appear at miles 2.5, 6.75, and 10, offering water, electrolyte drinks, gels, and fruit. Participants are encouraged to carry additional hydration given the rolling terrain. Post-race, finishers are treated to a hoodie, finisher medal, and food and drink tickets, making for a festive riverside celebration. Shuttle service (via bus ticket) is available back to the start; otherwise, participants must arrange their own ride.
Rave reviews highlight both speed and scenery:
