Overview

Like all of the other races, the half marathon follows an out-and-back loop trail. Those running the half make a single loop around the race route (those running the full run the loop course twice), and make their way along a course filled with uphill and downhill stretches, lakes and streams throughout, and a combination of trails through tree-covered forests as well as stretches out in the open air and sunlight.

The theme for the weekend’s events is “peace, love and running,” and the event organizers hand out tie-dyed race t-shirts and peace logo paraphernalia to finishers, who can take a dip in the (most likely quite cool) waters of the lake to refresh themselves after the run.

Course Description

Runners in the aptly named “Hippie Half Marathon” — what else would you expect at the Run Woodstock Marathon races? — follow an out-and-back loop course through the pristine wilderness and dirt tracks along the Blind Lake Trails. From there, runners competing in the 13.1-mile race distance make a single loop around the race route (runners in the full marathon make two loops).
