Overview

Join the vibrant heart of Anaconda on Saturday, August 9, 2025, for the Smelter City Scamper, part of the weekend-long Smeltermen’s Day Celebration. Hosted by the Smelter City Recreation Complex, this community-centered race festival aims to boost local wellness and support the development of a new recreation complex.

Now in its 3rd annual edition, the event offers a Half Marathon (7:30 AM), 10 K (8:00 AM), 5 K Run/Walk (8:30 AM), and a free 1‑block sprint for ages 8 and under (10:30 AM). Courses all start and finish at scenic Kennedy Commons, weaving through Anaconda’s historic neighborhoods, verdant Washoe Park, the Lorry Thomas wildlife area, and the West Valley loop with views of the towering Pintler Mountains.

Expect a fast, flat route, ideal for personal bests yet welcoming to walkers and kids. With 2‑mile water/aid stations, clear course marking, and a lead cyclist, the Scamper balances performance and fun. What truly sets it apart is the post-race brewfest, attracting locals and visitors to enjoy craft beer, food trucks, live music, and community spirit right at the finish line.

All registered participants receive a race T‑shirt, packet with coupons from local businesses, and contribute to a meaningful cause—improving community health infrastructure. The free kids’ sprint even offers shirts for purchase—making the event family-inclusive.
