Overview

Lake Pflugerville Park (18216 Weiss Lane), marks the hot—and scenic—return of the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon, brought to you by Bigfoot Running Company.

Celebrated as one of Texas summer’s toughest yet most beautiful road races, Summer Meltdown delivers an early morning challenge across event distances including a Half Marathon (13.1 mi), Quarter Marathon (6.55 mi), 5K, 1‑Mile, and Kids Dash. All adult races begin at 7:00 AM CDT, with a relaxed cut‑off of 11:00 AM to navigate the heat.

The course winds through lush parkland, shaded trails, and rolling hills framed by wildflowers and lakeside vistas. Expect blazing heat—as Texas tradition dictates—with well‑spaced aid stations stocked with water, GU, and volunteers offering encouragement at every mile.

What sets this race apart is its combination of community ethos and production polish. Expect branded shirts, medals, live awards, DJ support (Sasquatch), and Bigfoot trophies for overall winners—all wrapped in a fun, festival-style atmosphere. There’s even a referral refund program and group discounts that reward social runners and clubs.

With field sizes estimated between 100–500 runners per distance, Summer Meltdown blends an intimate exposure to nature with city-level race-day logistics. It’s ideal for local runners, training groups, and first-half marathoners seeking strong support with a side of Texas heat and heart.
