Get ready for a test of grit and scenery at the Summer Meltdown Half Marathon, at Marine Creek Lake Park, Fort Worth.
History & Format
Part of Bigfoot Running Company’s celebrated Summer Meltdown series, this Fort Worth event complements sister races in Austin and San Antonio. Runners choose from a Kids Dash, 1 Mile, 5K, Quarter‑Marathon (6.55 mi), Half Marathon, volunteer-run option, or a virtual run—all priced affordably to welcome all levels. The half marathon has a sharp cutoff of 11:00 AM, giving runners from 7:00 AM to complete the course.
Course & Runner Experience
The half marathon begins at 7:00 AM CDT, sending participants through lush, shaded park paths and Marine Creek scenes under the Texan sunrise. The course features rolling terrain with some hills but plenty of canopy cover. Frequent aid stations stocked with water, Gatorade, GU gels, and encouraging volunteers make hydration and morale a priority.
What Makes It Unique
This race blends small-event intimacy with polished amenities: chip timing, race photos, shiny medals, branded shirts, and a post-race rally tent with music and snacks. A coveted Bigfoot Trophy awaits top finishers, and a relaxed “Volunteer then Run” option opens community inclusion while rewarding goodwill.
With modest fields—estimated in the hundreds per distance—and the early start to beat summer heat, Summer Meltdown Fort Worth offers laid‑back competitive action in a nature-wrapped, community‑focused format that’s both scenic and supportive.
